Appreciating Science: Make A Small Solar Panel
You will find this article helpful for detailing the finer points of solar energy and why it might be helpful for you to consider this technology in the future. You will also find means to make a small solar panel to test out the process for yourself.
If you are the person who is responsible for paying all of the incoming utility bills, you are probably aware of their rising prices year after year. Something that always seems to be going up is the cost of electricity. You can mostly summarize this to supply and demand.
You see, electricity is what many consider to be the one utility that they simply could not live without. This is likely true, because of all that we use this energy for. For instance, many of us use electricity to heat and cool our homes. We also use it to keep food fresh and run all kinds of devices and appliances in our homes. Since you can’t live without it, you might consider a method to attain it cheaper over time.
Through the use of solar panels, you literally pool in energy from the rays of sun. You see, you cannot charge a ridiculous amount for use of the sun. It is a resource that is plentiful and able to be harnessed by everyone. So how do you make a small solar panel? This little process will tell you how. However this will not provide you the amount of energy you need to run much of anything, but you can understand how it works.
You start by purchasing a sheet of copper that is 6″ squared. You then place this on a burner running on high for thirty minutes. You will notice that the heat causes the copper to produce a film of black oxide all over it. After thirty minutes, turn off the burner and allow the copper to cool. In this process the black oxide will flake off naturally and leave behind a red coat. If you hook this up to an electrical current detector while it is out in the sun you will see that it harnesses the power of the rays and produces real energy for you to use.
